I hope the voters take note of every commissioner that votes to increase their taxes. Is this what they call running it like a business? Most businesses cut their expenses to stay afloat. Property owners in this county are already pushed to the max. Furloughs are used by Federal and State government as a means to reduce cost. Businesses use furloughs as well as workforce reductions to reduce cost. I know these are not popular but how much more are taxpayers expected to endure? I was amazed in listening to the board at how many many people are actually employed as county employees. On top of this, the longevity pay is outrageous in these economic times. Where are the real Republican board members on the board? Ray and Gardner are the two that requested the information on increasing the millage rate! What’s wrong with a downsize of the county government? In hard times it takes tough people to make the hard decisions. I’m afraid we don’t have any on this board. They will take the easy way out I’m sure. Increased millage rates and fees to feed a bloated government.
I came on this page to vote on the question you have about the county raising the millage rate. The vote is NO! Taxes are already too high in this county. I pay $600 more per year on a house that is appraised $10,000 lower that the one where I lived in Cobb County. County services were better and more abundent also in Cobb. There is something wrong with this county government that needs to be fixed. I even spoke to one of the Commissioners about this and got a lot of lip service nonsense. There is no desire to improve, just take more of our hard earned money..
I’m with Daivd on this NO more tax increase. One thing that still gets me is us paying $90,000 a year to rent the land for the walking park at the air port. I think alot of this is due to all around miss handling of funds. I know the park was an over sight at the time but that now is costing us “WE THE PEOPLE”
