October 28, 2010. FOX 5 Atlanta hosted a pep rally for Griffin High School on Thursday, October 28 for winning the High 5 Sports Team of the Week award. A record number of 150,000 votes were cast in the Fox poll; GHS received 78, 368 of those votes.
Students and teachers were surprised when former Griffin Bear and former Atlanta Falcon Jessie Tuggle returned to his high school Alma mater to present the football team with the trophy. He also gave the school his Falcons jersey, which he was wearing at the time, to display on the gym wall next to his number 88 green and gold jersey.
The Bears are undefeated and rank fifth in Quad-A.
