>New Year’s Eve in Griffin

>If you want to skip the trip to Atlanta and stay in Griffin or close by for New Year’s Eve, you have several great dining and event choices:

Sixth Street Pier is featuring a New Year’s Eve surf and turf special.  One four-ounce filet with blue cheese and white wine sauce and crab-stuffed shrimp with  caper dill sauce.  Served with champagne for $25 per person.  They will also have a $15 special on Moscato sparkling wine for two.

J. Henry’s is featuring a grilled grouper and roasted chicken and seafood cakes. Your favorite bartender, Tenille, will be mixing a signature cocktail for a special price, but you’ll have to drop by to find out what’s in it!

The Cavern is hosting an 18+ New Year’s Eve bash with DJ Bobby Goss spinning records. Coleman Fox and the Funky Broadways will open for the headline act of The Akin Brothers, a regional rock and roll, bluesy jam band.  The Cavern has recently expanded their beer selection to include Fat Tire, Terrapin RPA, Yuengling, Heineken, New Castle, and Amstel Light in addition to other regular domestics. There will be beer bucket specials early in the evening and 21+ get in free all night.  312 E. Solomon Street, Griffin. 

Truett’s Grill in McDonough is the place to go for a family-friendly New Year’s party.  There will be fun and games, prizes, and a six-foot nugget will drop at midnight into a bucket of honey-mustard sauce followed by fireworks. 

The Buckeye Band, of Griffin, will play a show at the “gorgeous and plush” Ramada Inn Ballroom in Forsyth.  With seating for 400+, a two-tiered stage, and a big dance floor, this should shape up to be a rocking show.  Playing with the Buckeye band will be the “horn player to the stars,” Newton Collier, who was on all the Sam & Dave albums, Otis Redding, LTD, Wilson Picket, and Joe Tex. Also guest playing with the band will be Rick Maxwell, who played with Atlanta Rhythm Section and Chris Hicks, the lead guitar player from Marhsall Tucker and The Outlaws. Discounted prices may be available when you buy a ticket and book a hotel room at the Ramada Inn.

Ale House Saloon is hosting their Second Annual New Year’s Eve Bash with $2 Jager Bombs, $9 domestic beer buckets, and $2 drafts of Bud and Miller Light. The Royals Brothers Band will play and there will be a champagne toast at midnight.  $5 cover at the door. 507 N. Expressway, Griffin.
