Joe Westbury of Connor-Westbury Funeral Home, who donated the monument and SGT Richard Phillips of the Griffin Police Department
In honor of National Peace Officers Memorial Day, the Griffin Police Department added a plaque honoring officers that have been killed in the line of duty. The names of Oscar Atkinson and James Cody were memorialized with the placement of a plaque in the completed Griffin Police Department’s Prayer and Memorial Garden.
The idea of the garden was an idea conceived by the members of Carver Road Baptist Church and designed and installed by church member Sadie Phillips’ family-owned landscape management service.
Connor-Westbury Funeral Home donated the monument that features the names of the fallen officers.
The monument is located directly in front of the Police Department and is open to the public.
