A Griffin woman, 19-year-old Ariel White, remains hospitalized with stab wounds sustained in an alleged domestic dispute Tuesday night.
Personnel of the Griffin Police Department were dispatched to the call at 8:24 p.m. and arrived to find the victim had already been removed from the scene.
“Officers responded to Fairmont Homes at 607 Haskell Ward Road. The call went out as a stabbing, so an ambulance was dispatched, but when Cpl. Luke Fletcher arrived, he was told the victim was being transported to the hospital by private vehicle,” said Capt. Dwayne Jones. “She (White) received two stab wounds – one to the left temple area and one to the left side of her neck.”
Authorities say there were multiple witnesses to the incident who were later interviewed by Sgt. Karen Yancy and Sgt. John Hayes, of the Criminal Investigation Division.
“It actually occurred during a struggle in the victim’s car. It was a domestic-related disagreement which resulted in the victim being stabbed,” Jones said.
Witnesses reported the alleged perpetrator, 20-year-old Montavious Diandre Jackson, fled on foot, but he was soon apprehended several blocks from Fairmont Homes.
“He was taken into custody without further incident, and the weapon allegedly used in the attack was recovered in the suspect’s possession,” Jones said.
White is currently receiving treatment at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
“The latest information she (Yancy) has on the victim is that she’s stable,” Jones stated.
Jackson is being held in the Spalding County Jail while investigators seek warrants for aggravated assault, aggravated battery and cruelty to children, with all charges being sought under the Family Violence Act.
