SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::
The Griffin Police Department is investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred at the Morris Street Apartments Friday afternoon. This is the fourth drive-by shooting that has taken place in the city of Griffin since Monday.
According to Sgt. Sommer Bales, this latest incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. when people were gathered outside the apartment complex located at 110 Morris St.
“Witnesses reported seeing a blue in color Nissan Maxima occupied by four black males,” Bales said. “There were two shooters hanging out the windows.”
Other potential witnesses who were reportedly outside at the time of the shooting are not providing information on the case.
Little more is known at this time, but said the vehicle may have had a drive-out license plate.
Bales said there were no injuries reported, and investigators are uncertain how many shots were fired.
“A witness said she heard several shots fired, but we can only account for two bullet holes that struck the apartments,” she said, adding that no shell casings were recovered at the scene.
Anyone with information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact Bales at 770.229.6450 or sbales@cityofgriffin.com.
