Free family fun at June Jam today in Historic Downtown Griffin

You need look no further than downtown Griffin for the perfect summertime family fun with the city’s annual June Jam beginning at 3 p.m. today.

“We’re excited to bring Griffin’s largest beach party back,” said Griffin Economic Development Coordinator Heather Robinson. “This event is a staple for our community and the best way to celebrate summer.”

The Griffin Downtown Council and the Griffin Main Street Program have partnered with the city of Griffin and presenting sponsor Tanaholix Sunless Studio to bring June Jam back to Historic Downtown Griffin for the 18th year.

With over 1,000 in attendance last year, this annual event has become an iconic kick-off to summer, with 60+ tons of sand dumped on Solomon Street in front of Imperial Theatre Park, live music and more.

Before June Jam, patrons are encouraged to shop, dine and explore 2nd Saturday specials at participating downtown businesses. The Georgia Grown Downtown Market, located inside the Historic City Hall fire bay at 201 East Solomon St. opened at 2pm with local farmers, crafters and artisans. Tanaholix Sunless Studio will host vendors at the Park at Sixth starting at 3 p.m., with their grand reopening celebration at their Griffin location, 301 S Hill St., all weekend long.

The June Jam Beach Party will begin at 3 p.m. with sand games, a street DJ, downtown vendors hosting pop-up shops on Solomon Street and a food truck court on South 6th Street.

The Hard Cover Band will take the stage at 7 p.m. in front of Imperial Theatre Park.

All June Jam events are free to attend.
