SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::
Authorities say a 60-year-old homeless woman was violently attacked early Sunday morning as she walked in the vicinity of Goodwill located at 1424 North Expressway.
Griffin Police Department Officer Roosevelt Biddles responded in non-emergency mode at approximately 2:45 a.m. to a report of the aggravated assault.
“I could see that Ms. Womack had a large laceration on her forehead and minor cuts on her legs,” Biddles said. “Ms. Womack stated that she was walking behind the Goodwill Thrift Store and was assaulted and that she fell to the ground.”
Womack was unable to provide a description of the assailant or the direction they fled.
“She also stated that the suspect stole her burgundy purse,” Biddles said.
WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to evaluate Womack, who ultimately refused treatment and declined transport to the hospital.
Biddles said Womack was unable to provide contact information, stating she does not have a phone and is currently homeless.
