Teen murder victim discovered in Spalding County church parking lot

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a murder after a shooting victim was discovered early Friday morning in a church parking lot.

Deputies responded to Sunnyside Baptist Church at approximately 2:40 a.m. in reference to the discovery of a gunshot victim in the parking lot.

The victim has been identified as 18-year-old Dallas Johnson.

“Deputies immediately secured the scene and began searching for witnesses. Investigators from multiple divisions of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, SCSO Crime Scene Investigators, and representatives from District Attorney Marie Broder’s Office responded to begin the investigation into the circumstances surrounding Johnson’s death,” said Sheriff Darrell Dix. “Right now, we have a suspect in custody, and there is no indication that there is any threat to the public regarding this incident. The investigation is on-going (sic) and further information will be provided as it progresses.”
