SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::
A mass shooting incident Saturday morning in Hampton has left four people dead.
Authorities say the incident occurred at approximately 10:45 a.m. in the Dogwood Lakes area.
The victims were shot and killed at four separate locations, all within close proximity.
The suspect has been identified as Andre Longmore, who is described as a black male, approximately 5’10” to 5’11” tall.
He was last seen wearing gray pants and a dark shirt with a red tone, and was armed with a black handgun.
Longmore was last seen driving a black 2017 GMC Arcadia with license plate number DHF756.
“At the time of 10:45 this morning, Andre Longmore shot and killed four residents of the city of Hampton. All four victims are adults. There was three males, one female,” said Hampton Police Department Chief James Turner. “We’re not releasing the names of the victims at this time to ensure the family has time to be notified and for them to grieve in private before it becomes public.”
Turner said preliminary findings indicate the suspect, 41-year-old Andre Longmore, is unrelated to the victims.
As of Saturday afternoon, Longmore’s motive was unknown, Turner said.
He announced during a press conference that four murder warrants have been issued for Longmore’s arrest.
“Since 10:45 this morning, all hands have been on deck. It is our responsibility to investigate it and to bring this person to justice. Shortly before this press conference, we did obtain four warrants for murder for Mr. Longmore. Those warrants are active. We’ve taken many steps in getting it out to all necessary law enforcement and the public. We will be turning over the apprehension to Sheriff Scandrett and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office,” Turner said.
Henry County Sheriff Reginald Scandrett said his office is actively pursuing Longmore, wherever he may be.
“The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is now in possession of four murder warrants for Andre Longmore, date of birth 11.31.1982. We’re working in conjunction with the GBI, Henry County Police, U.S. Marshals, Henry County Fire, EMA and every metro-Atlanta police and public safety agency. This is an all hands on deck movement to make sure that we place Mr. Andrew Longmore in custody,” Scandrett said. “The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is also offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leading to the arrest and apprehension and prosecution of Mr. Longmore. If you see Mr. Longmore, please call 911. Do not approach him because he is known to be armed and dangerous. Any information with respect to the $10,000 reward, information that will help us in this hunt for Mr. Longmore, call CrimeStoppers at 404.577.8477.”
Turner thanked the many law enforcement and public safety agencies that have assisted the Hampton Police Department including the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Henry County Police Department, the Henry County Crime Scene Unit, the GBI, the Henry County Fire Department and Henry County EMA.
Scandrett said his agency will not stop searching for Longmore until he has been apprehended.
“As I’ve said before, unfortunately, during these types of senseless crimes, this sentence is directed to you, Mr. Longmore. Wherever you are, we will hunt you down in any hole that you may be residing in and we will bring you into custody. Period,” he said. “We will be actively looking for this individual until he is caught.”
