>THE PAPER began just 10 weeks ago to give Griffin-Spalding County another news outlet – one that would be hyper-local (no AP fluff or syndicated columns) and would cover newsworthy stories more in-depth than other media outlets.
In the course of these 10 weeks, we’ve heard some feedback, both positive and negative. But what we’ve heard the most is, “Oh, you used to do Scoop Magazine? We loved that magazine and miss it so much…” or something along those lines.
These comments, paired with recent events occurring in Spalding County that have garnered oodles of media coverage (firefighter misconduct and county commissioner feuds) led us to do some thinking about our original mission statement.
Should we add to the media coverage of “hard-hitting news,” or gear THE PAPER towards something more like a Creative Loafing arts and entertainment/human interest publication?
