New library group holds logo design contest

The newly formed group FROGSLIB (Friends of the Griffin-Spalding Library) invites artistically-inclined folks to come up with a unique logo for FROGSLIB.  The creator of the winning design will earn $100 and the group’s undying gratitude.

The design should be on an 8.5 by 11 cardstock paper.  It can be drawn or painted (no graphic design please to keep an even playing field) and, of course, must be an original design.

It is recommended that artists use the library colors green and blue.  All residents of Spalding County are eligible to participate, although those under age 18 must include a parent’s signature along with their own on the application form, which are available at the library at 800 Memorial Drive.

The contest will run from Oct. 17 to Nov. 15, with all designs and applications due by 6 p.m. on Nov. 15.  Members of the Griffin Area Arts Association will select the best designs, which will be posted in the library and on the FROGSLIB Facebook page.  Library patrons will vote to select their favorite; the voting period is Dec. 3-14 and the winner will be announced Dec. 17.  Ballots will be available at the library and online.

The purpose of FROGSLIB is to support the Griffin-Spalding Library in every way possible, including focusing public attention on library services, facilities, and needs; applying for available grants, encouraging donations, gifts, endowments, and bequests, and sponsoring fundraising events.
