GPD: Shooting suspect arrested without incident

Justin Adam Holloway, the man being sought in connection with the early morning April 1 shooting of Justin Melton, of Griffin, in the parking lot of the Super Speed Zone located at 678 North Expressway has been apprehended.
“Officers of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division developed information on the case and provided it to Investigator Keith Dryden, who led the investigation in this incident,” said Lt. Mike Richardson of the GPD Criminal Investigation Division. “Once we received the information from the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, we followed up on the new leads, and officers with the Multi-Jurisdictional Narcotics Task Force and the Thomaston Police Department, working in conjunction with investigators from the Griffin Police Department, located Holloway at a Molena residence in Upson County.”
Authorities previously reported that the shooting occurred following a verbal altercation, and that Melton and Holloway are believed to be acquaintances.
Melton sustained a single gunshot wound to his right ribcage and was transported to the emergency room of Spalding Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.
Holloway, who was considered armed and dangerous, was taken into custody without incident shortly after 1 p.m. Friday, Richardson said.
He is now being held in the Spalding County Jail on three felony charges – aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Richardson said the Griffin Police Department would like to thank the public and the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office for providing several tips that assisted in the investigation and Holloway’s subsequent arrest.
