Friday night murder suspect sought by SCSO

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Friday night shooting that took the life of an as-of-yet unidentified Griffin man.
According to Sheriff Wendell Beam, personnel of the Uniform Patrol Division responded at 10:07 p.m. to a call reporting a person shot at 166 Camden Road. Upon arrival, deputies located the victim in the driveway. He was subsequently transported to the emergency room of Spalding Regional Hospital where he later succombed to his injuries.
Investigators of the SCSO Criminal Investigation Division interviewed witnesses at the scene and have identified the suspect as 30-year-old Kendrick Monquell Cheeves, who resides at the location of the shooting.
Cheeves is described as a black male, who is 5’7” tall and weighs 160 pounds.
Officials say Cheeves fled the scene following the shooting and is now being sought on charges of felony murder and aggravated assault.
Anyone with information pertaining to Cheeves’ whereabouts is asked to contact the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office at 770-467-4282, or to call 911.
Authorities warn Cheeves should be considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
