Schools released from lockdown; armed robbery suspect remains at-large

Three Griffin-Spalding County schools that were placed on lockdown Thursday morning following an alleged armed robbery and shooting in Tyus Park have been reopened.
Cowan Road Elementary and Middle schools and Beaverbrook Elementary School were placed on lockdown after a man reported he was robbed at gunpoint at approximately 7:30 a.m. in Tyus Park.
“We’ve released all the schools in the area,” said Capt. Tony Ranieri, of the SCSO Criminal Investigation Division.
Authorities earlier stated the schools would remain on lockdown until they felt safe the suspect was no longer in the area.
The suspect, who remains at-large, is described as a black male wearing a brown jacket and brown pants.
