The Griffin Police Department has apprehended a suspect being sought in connection to a Sunday afternoon rape on D.F. Fuller Drive.
According to Lt. Mike Richardson, of the GPD Criminal Investigation Division, Octavious Russell, of Griffin, has been arrested and charged with rape, aggravated sodomy and burglary.
Investigators were on Sunday called to a residence on D.F. Fuller Drive where the victim reported an unknown man had entered her home and raped her.
“After several days of intense investigation, Cpl. Kelly McKinney, the lead investigator, was able to positively identify Octavious Russell, of Griffin, as the offender,” Richardson said in a press release.
Warrants for Russell’s arrest were obtained Thursday morning, and only hours later, detectives spotted the suspect walking in the 400 block of North 8th Street.
Officials say Russell was taken into custody without incident.
Russell is now being held in the Spalding County Jail.
