A Wednesday night drive-by shooting at 610 Lane St., has left two people wounded.
According to Griffin Police Department Chief Steve Heaton, a three-year-old little girl sustained a grazing wound to the back, and the child’s mother sustained a gunshot wound to the buttocks.
Both victims were transported by ambulance to the emergency room of Spalding Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
“The child possibly has a (bullet) fragment in her back, but nothing life-threatening,” said Lt. Mike Richardson, of the GPD Criminal Investigation Division. “Her mother, who is in her 30s, was shot in the buttocks/hip area.”
The adult female victim wound was not through-and-through, meaning the bullet did not exit her body, Richardson said.
Investigators of the Griffin Police Department remain on the scene and are actively investigating the incident.
Richardson said no witnesses have come forward with information.
In addition to the two victims, two other adults were present in the residence at the time the shooting occurred.
“They heard the gunshots and screeching of tires, but there’s no reported witnesses,” Richardson said.
