According to Spalding County Sheriff Wendell Beam, David Gibson, age 51, a 27 year veteran of the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, retired on May 21, 2015, in lieu of termination.
Gibson was the captain over the Uniform Patrol Division.
An Internal Affairs Investigation was being conducted on Gibson at the time he retired. The allegations against Gibson are sexual harassment, creating a hostile workplace, conduct unbecoming a deputy, improper use of the Internet and violation of his oath of office.
The investigation is continuing and when it is completed it will be reviewed by the District Attorney’s Office to determine if any criminal charges are in order.
