Sheriff: “Major supplier” of marijuana arrested

STAFF REPORT :::

According to a press release issued by Spalding County Sheriff Darrell Dix, an investigation of the SCSO Special Operations Unit concluded Nov. 20, resulting in the seizure of approximately 14 pounds of marijuana and the arrest of 38-year-old LaTodd Weems, of 112 Princess Circle.

Members of the SCSO SWAT team executed a search warrant at 132 Armstead Circle, the home of a relative of Weems. Officials allege that search warrant led to the seizure of the marijuana, digital scales and packaging materials.

Weems has been charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.
Authorities say Weems has ten years of felony probation remaining on a prior conviction, and is now being held in the Spalding County Jail.

“With Weems arrest, a major supplier of marijuana has been taken off the streets,” Dix said. “This is part of an ongoing effort to target drug dealers in our neighborhoods.”
