Suspect being sought in hit-and-run of child; SCSO seeks assistance in possible medical emergency

The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a suspect in a hit-and-run involving a child.

The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on Old Atlanta Road.

According to Capt. Dwayne Jones, the victim was a young girl.

“The child – a five-year-old – was on a bicycle. She sustained minor cuts and bruises, but she was transported to WellStar just as a precaution,” Jones said.

Authorities say the suspect is believed to be a male, and described the vehicle involved as a silver Pontiac G-6 with a Georgia license plate reading RHG3488.

In a separate unrelated matter, the SCSO is also seeking a white female driving a black Jeep Cherokee with a license plate reading RLB717.

Officials say the driver may be experiencing a medical emergency.

Anyone with information pertaining to either the hit-and-run or possible medical emergency is asked to call 911 or the E911 non-emergency line at 770.229.9911.
