STAFF REPORT :::
A Thomaston woman was killed Sunday in a single vehicle wreck in Pike County.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) responded to the wreck at 1 p.m., but officials believe the wreck occurred many hours earlier.
Authorities say the Toyota Four-runner driven by 22-year-old Tara Corley Hollingsworth left the roadway and struck a propane tank, causing it to overturn. The Four-runner then collided with an advertising sign that collapsed on the vehicle.
Hollingsworth was deceased at the scene.
Officials say Hollingsworth left for work at 6 a.m. and appears to have been travelling northbound on Highway 19 in the vicinity of Patton Road when the wreck occurred.
The PCSO reports the wreck appears to have occurred in the early morning hours, but because her vehicle was hidden from the roadway, she was not located until the afternoon.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the wreck.
