Pike County S.O. apprehends armed carjacking suspects

STAFF REPORT :::

Pike County deputies on Saturday morning engaged in a vehicle pursuit related to a carjacking in another jurisdiction.

According to a press release issued by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the pursuit began at 2:54 a.m. on Highway 18.

The vehicle involved had been reported stolen during an armed carjacking at the Lovejoy Wal-Mart.

The pursuit was initiated in the area of the Cedars golf course and ended near Madden Bridge Road.

Authorities say it ended when a PCSO deputy successfully performed a PIT maneuver on the fleeing vehicle.

Three occupants were taken into custody at the scene.

One was transported by air ambulance to the Grady Memorial Hospital Trauma Unit with unknown injuries.

A second was transported by ambulance to the emergency room of WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital for evaluation.

Those two suspects will also face charges in Lovejoy, officials say.

One suspect transported for treatment has been identified as 19-year-old Parrish Pierce, of Fayetteville, and the second was a juvenile who has not been identified.

The third suspect was not identified on scene, as he had no identification and was receiving medical attention. He was later transferred to the Lovejoy Police Department to face charges in that jurisdiction.

Officials say two handguns believed to have been used in the carjacking were recovered from the vehicle. One of those firearms had been reported stolen out of Spalding County.
