A Henry County Police Department K-9 was killed in a Thursday night wreck on I-75.
The wreck involved an HCPD K-9 Unit and a tractor trailer.

According to Capt. Randy Lee, Officer T. Pilgrim and Officer W. Neville were conducting traffic enforcement near the 208 mile marker when their patrol unit collided with the tractor trailer.

Pilgrim and Neville, who were wearing seat belts, were transported to Piedmont Henry Medical Center, where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

The driver of the tractor trailer was transported by air ambulance to the Grady Memorial Hospital Trauma Unit.

He was conscious and alert at the scene, Lee said.

K-9 Thorr was transported to the veterinarian where he was found to have sustained significant injuries in the collision.

“With a heavy heart, the Henry County Police Department announces the passing of K-9 Thorr,” an HCPD press release stated. “K-9 Thorr was a five-year-old Belgian Malinois and has been protecting and serving the citizens of Henry County for the last six months. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all parties involved.”
