STAFF REPORT :::
The Griffin Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault in which two groups of suspected gang members allegedly drew weapons on one another in a local convenience store.
The incident was reported by an employee of Super Speed Zone located at 678 North Expressway.
GPD Officer Chelsea Jones, of the Uniform Patrol Division, contacted the clerk outside the store upon her arrival.
“(The clerk) was extremely upset and shaken by the incident that occurred in the store. (The clerk) stated six black males came into the store armed with guns and began yelling at one another,” Jones stated.
The clerk reported that three men entered first and she noticed one man “had out a grey handgun with an extended magazine in his hand,” and she told him to put up the gun.
The second group of men then entered the store, she reported.
One group of men allegedly yelled, “F*ck Crips!” and the second group responded, “F*ck 8th Street!” the clerk said.
Fearing the men were going to open fire, the store employee then fled to the rear of the store.
Prior to the men leaving the store, she said she heard one say, “You know who I am. I’m your little cousin.”
Jones stated a review of the Super Speed Zone’s video surveillance footage depicted a confrontation involving five men and did indicate the armed men pointed firearms at one another.
The three men who entered the store together left in a white vehicle, travelling in the direction of Waterford, while the other two men ran toward the rear of America’s Best motel.
Jones turned over the scene to the GPD Criminal Apprehension and Gang Enforcement (CAGE) Unit.

I will be pleasantly surprised to see GPD put any effort at all into finding these thugs. DA Marie Broder has shown that she does not want to prosecute certain people for certain types of crimes.
