Join today’s Second Saturday Cupid Shuffle for family fun in Downtown Griffin

STAFF REPORT :::

Love is in the air today as the city of Griffin Economic Development team has partnered with the Griffin Downtown Council and the Griffin Main Street Program to host the Second Saturday Cupid Shuffle, a Valentine event that will run through 8 p.m. today.

Families are invited to shop, dine and explore downtown Griffin today and show their love to local small business owners.

Join in the Cupid ‘Word’ Shuffle, a word scramble activity for all ages.

To receive a letter for the word scramble on the bottom of the event map, that can be printed on this page, citizens will visit participating businesses to complete a task. For example, do five jumping jacks at Championship Martial Arts at 210 E. Solomon St. or spend a minimum of $5 at Two Paddle Creamery at 128 W Solomon St.

Once all letters have been collected and the word scramble is complete, drop your map off at ‘stache studio at 116 S. 6th St. for a chance to win a grand prize.

A winner will be announced on the Downtown Griffin Facebook page via Facebook Live at 10 a.m. on Valentine’s Day.

A big thank you to the local downtown businesses, like Our Vision Optical at 324 E. Broad St. Suite 109, that have generously donated to the grand prize.

Other activities for the day include:

A gift basket raffle with tickets for $1 at Caldwell Cottage at 119 S. Hill St.

Guess the number of candy hearts in the jar for a chance to win a $25 gift card at Infinity Nutrition at 130 S. Hill St.

Find the hidden candy hearts at Cool-lectables at 119 S Hill St.

Grab a coloring page created by original artwork from Chelsea Baez and Andrew Patrick Henry at Rue Colline Art Gallery at 123 N. Hill St.

Ladies are invited to participate in the Little Black Dress party starting at 7 p.m. at The Tipsy Daisy at 132 S. Hill St.

“Our team works hard each month to bring fun activities to the downtown”, said Griffin Director of Economic Development Patrick Kay. “Our goal is to improve the quality of life and create a meaningful experience every second Saturday of the month.”

Mark your calendar for next month, March 12, for the Shamrock-the-Block St. Patrick’s Day celebration. For the second year, Atlanta Pipe Band will be marching their way through downtown while playing their bagpipes and drums. Follow Downtown Griffin on Facebook and Instagram to get event updates.
