Lithonia man arrested in Pike County after allegedly firing gun during road rage incident

A Lithonia man is in custody after an alleged road rage incident Thursday evening in Pike County.

Pike County Sheriff’s Office deputies at approximately 5 p.m. responded to a call reporting an motorist in another vehicle was behaving aggressively towards them.

While on the phone with 911, the caller alleged 32-year-old Donald Banner discharged a firearm during the incident.

Authorities say dispatchers heard a shot discharged and relayed that information to PCSO deputies.

Within minutes, Banner was located and taken into custody following a traffic stop on Highway 18 near Harrison Road.

Deputies recovered two handguns from the vehicle Banner was driving.

Banner is being held in the Pike County Jail on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
