SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::
Two people were wounded in a shooting Sunday night on North Hill Street.
Griffin Police Department officer Willie Deese reported he was patrolling in the area when he heard several gunshots fired.
Deese and additional Uniform Patrol Division officers located what Deese described as a “large gathering” in front of 419 N. Hill St.
During an encounter on 6th Street, it was discovered that two people had been shot, authorities said.
Officers also learned that two residences and several vehicles were damaged by gunfire.
GPD Chief Mike Yates on Monday morning said both individuals who were shot are in stable condition.
The GRIP will report additional information as it becomes available.

All that money spent making North Hill Street didn’t do anything to make it a safer place to live. When I was a kid and went to school on that street I walked to school. We lived in one of those apartments on Thurmon Street. It’s still there today. We never had a problem with anyone. The only thing that’s changed is the people.
