A Spalding County deputy has been critically wounded in a shooting, and is being flown by air ambulance to an Atlanta trauma unit.
Sheriff Darrell Dix said SCSO personnel remain involved in a standoff with the alleged gunman.
“We are in a barricaded situation with the gunman. Shots have been exchanged, and we have more personnel on the way up there,” Dix said. “He is contained and we are dealing with this situation right now.”
The active scene is in the Vineyard Road area, and everyone is asked to avoid that general area.
