Three suspects are in police custody following an alleged armed robbery Monday afternoon that resulted in the lockdown of two nearby schools.

Capt. Dwayne Jones, of the Griffin Police Department, said the initial incident was reported to 911 by the alleged victims.

“Dispatch received a call that there was an armed robbery at 214 Cabin Creek Drive Apartment 1,” Jones said. “Dispatch was then advised that the suspects had barricaded themselves inside the same residence.”

According to Jones, officers arrived on the scene and established a perimeter, and soon identified that three suspects were inside the apartment – one male and two females.

The victims then reported to authorities that they had been victimized after being invited to the suspect’s residence.

“The victims arrived at the Cabin Creek location after being invited over,” Jones said. “The male subject came out of a bedroom with a shotgun, pointed it at them and said, ‘Give it up.’ Cell phones and cash were stolen.”

“One of the female suspect’s mothers arrived on the scene and made contact with her daughter,” Jones said. “She was able to talk them into coming out of the apartment.”

The suspects, Robert Sims, Dedreisha Moore and Audriana Barnes, remain in custody, facing charges of armed robbery.
