Officials of the Griffin Police Department say no one was injured Thursday when a vehicle was driven through the front window of the Subway located on South Hill Street.
“It occurred at 7:24 p.m. at the Subway at 820 S. Hill St.,” said Capt. Dwayne Jones. “It was a single-vehicle wreck, and there were no injuries reported.”
According to Subway employees who were present when the incident occurred, the driver was an elderly woman who appeared to have mistakenly put her vehicle in drive rather than reverse as she was leaving a parking space in front of the local sandwich shop.
“I don’t know about the dollar amount, but the damage did appear to be fairly extensive,” Jones said. “It appears they’ll have to replace the storefront – the framing, doors and windows.”
