GPD officer critically injured in motorcycle wreck

SHEILA MARSHALL :::

A Griffin police officer – Cpl. Chad Moxon – sustained critical injuries in a single-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon. He was off duty at the time of the incident.

According to Maj. Leslie Holmes, of the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office, the incident was reported to authorities at 12:51 p.m. She said the wreck resulted when Moxon lost control of his Harley-Davidson motorcycle on an S-curve on Ridgeway Road, in Barnesville.

Holmes was uncertain of any specifics related to the incident, explaining that the Georgia State Patrol worked the wreck.

“He had already made contact with the roadway when we arrived on the scene,” she said.

Moxon was transported by ambulance to Macon Medical Center with critical injuries.

As of late evening, Moxon was receiving treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

“Our prayers are, of course, with Chad and his family as he recovers from this terrible motorcycle wreck,” said the GPD’s Capt. Dwayne Jones.
