GPD makes arrest in multiple theft cases

Officers of the Griffin Police Department on Thursday morning apprehended and arrested Michael Wyatt, of 309 Mae Court, Locust Grove, in connection with a number of crimes in multiple jurisdictions. He was taken into custody at 1352 Maple Drive.

According to Capt. Dwayne Jones, Wyatt was wanted for several felony theft by taking charges out of Spalding and Henry counties. He will also now face Griffin charges of felony theft by receiving a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

GPD officials thanked the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office for assistance provided in the case, as well as the community-at-large.

Jones said information was posted on Facebook, resulting in a citizen tip, which investigators credit with breaking the case.
