Following the complete Wednesday morning evacuation of the Spalding County Courthouse, a thorough search found no explosive device and public safety personnel have issued clearance for normal business to resume.

The Grip has learned that the threat was made specifically against the Magistrate Court, alleging a bomb would detonate just after 9 a.m.

Griffin Judicial Circuit Judge Christopher Edwards cancelled proceedings that were to have occurred in his courtroom Wednesday, and a civil trial being heard by State Court Judge Essary was recessed until after lunch.

All other offices located within the Courthouse were cleared to immediately resume operating at approximately 9:45 a.m.
