GPD arrests 11 in connection to entering auto, other cases


The Griffin Police Department today announced the arrests of 11 suspects in a recent series of entering auto cases.
During the months of June and July, the Griffin Police Department (GPD) Criminal Investigations Division (CID) investigated several reports of entering autos in the Hillandale, Forest Hills and Cold Water Creek neighborhoods. Working with the Uniform Patrol Division and investigators of the Crime Scene Unit, the lead investigators, Karen Yancy and Mike Morris, were able to develop leads and piece together evidence from the various cases to identify multiple suspects.
As their investigations continued with additional assistance from the Special Investigations Unit, a search warrant was executed on Pamela Drive which resulted in the recovery of stolen property and revealed additional entering auto cases that occurred in the Walden Pointe Apartments and Carver Road areas. After several weeks of following up leads and conducting numerous interviews, several additional suspects were identified and have been arrested. These arrests have cleared multiple entering auto cases throughout the city, a burglary case at Regency Apartments and resulted in the recovery of several stolen items, including a firearm.
Arrested and charged with various counts of entering auto, theft by receiving stolen property, burglary and or drug related charges were 24-year-old Kristian Williams, 22-year-old Kent Yarborough, 19-year-old Johntavious Williams, 20-year-old Jotavious Brownlee, 18-year-old Deandre Middleton, 24-year-old Brandon Askins, 20-year-old Mohamad Batliwala, 20-year-old Quendarrious Williams, 17-year-old Ricky Williams, 24-year-old Demarcus Wright and 45-year-old Victor Fuller.
