The Spalding County Board of Commissioners has voted to enter into an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) with the city of Griffin and the Griffin-Spalding County Airport Authority that will allow the proposed new airport to move forward.
Once the IGA has also been approved by the Griffin Board of Commissioners and the Airport Authority, officials will be able to resume its efforts involving the Federal Aviation Administration and the Georgia Department of Transportsion, and move the project forward.
Commissioners Raymond Ray, Rita Johnson and Gwen Flowers-Taylor voted to approve the IGA, and Commissioner Bart Miller opposed. Commission Chairman Chipper Gardner was absent from the meeting.
