Man critically injured Monday morning at city of Griffin Water Treatment Plant

SHEILA A. MATHEWS :::

A delivery driver severely injured Monday morning at the city of Griffin Water Treatment Plant on North Expressway is en route to Grady Memorial Hospital via Life Flight.
According to Griffin Fire-Rescue Chief Tommy Jones, the man, described only as being in his late 40s, was very badly injured during a chlorine delivery.
“A large piece of equipment fell on his leg. He sustained severe injuries to his leg, so he’s being flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta,” Jones said. “He was alert and conscious. We established a landing zone and got him up in the air. They’re transporting him up there to try and save his leg.”
Jones said the injured man is not a city of Griffin employee, but had no further information on his status or identity.
The Grip will follow this incident and report updates as they become available.
