Spalding County woman killed in early Wednesday morning wreck

The Griffin Post of the Georgia State Patrol is investigating a Wednesday morning two-vehicle wreck  on Highway 19-41 that resulted in the death of 45-year-old Ricki Lynn Stokes, of Griffin.

According to GSP Post Command SFC Daniel Fagan, Stokes was killed at approximately 5:50 a.m. when the 2004 Ford Mustang she was driving struck head-on the 2014 Dodge Ram 2500 driven by Gary Daniel Linder, of McDonough.

“The car was going north in the southbound lane,” Fagan said. “She (Stokes) made a turn off of Birdie Road. Instead of going north in the northbound lane, she went north in the southbound lane.”

Spalding County Coroner Sonny Foster said Stokes was killed instantly.

Linder, who was also injured in the wreck, was transported by ambulance to the emergency room of Spalding Regional Medical Center.

The GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is assisting troopers of the Griffin Post in the investigation.
