The Spalding County Sheriff’s Office on Monday appeared before the Spalding County Board of Commissioners to present information on the status of local gangs and crime.

Room 108 of the Spalding County Annex is at near standing room only capacity, with city officials having joined their counterparts and local residents for the presentation.

According to investigators, hundreds of known gang members have been identified in the Griffin-Spalding County area.

The Grip will publish an in-depth article regarding this Board of Commissioner’s workshop, including officials’ responses – including the question of whether race plays a role in law enforcement investigations of local gangs – upon its completion.
