Armed robbery suspects arrested, charged with numerous felonies

Two suspects are in custody following an alleged armed robbery that reportedly occurred inside the Regency Apartments complex.

Officers of the Griffin Police Department’s Uniform Patrol Division responded to the report at approximately 7:15 p.m. June 24.

Authorities say the incident was reported by the victim from a secondary location after having fled the complex. The victim reported he was robbed of a wallet, currency and a watch.

The initial investigation revealed potential suspects, and further investigation resulted in the victim positively identifying one suspect.

The suspect identified was Jabril Akil Reid, age 19, whose listed address is 523 E. Central Ave.

It was learned that Reid had been temporarily living in apartment A1, and at approximately 9:40 p.m., Investigator Drew Jackson and Investigator Stan Phillips took Reid into custody without incident inside the Regency complex.

Reid gave statements identifying a co-perpetrator’s involvement in the robbery, but did not identify the second suspect.

However, that suspect has now been taken into custody.

Reid has been charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and providing a false name/date of birth. He is currently being held in the Spalding County Jail.

Charleston Jester, age 17, of Griffin, turned himself in to the Spalding County Jail. He has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of participating in criminal street gang activity.
