Griffin Fire-Rescue Firefighter Kevin Burkholder has been arrested on ten charges including multiple counts related to the sexual abuse of a child.
According to the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office, Burkholder is being held on one count of incest, one count of aggravated child molestation, one count of felony sodomy, one count of child molestation, two counts of felony sexual exploitation of children and four counts of unlawful eavesdropping or surveillance.
The arrest warrant, which was issued Aug. 4, cited one incident alleging Burkholder committed the felony of child molestation “when he placed his fingers, mouth and penis on the vagina” of a minor child.
The nine additional charges were brought after the initial arrest warrant was issued.
Burkholder was taken into custody Tuesday evening by the Griffin Police Department.
GPD Chief Mike Yates said his agency was notified by the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office that an active warrant had been obtained for Burkholder’s arrest.
Yates said he was taken into custody without incident. Burkholder was transported to the Griffin Police Department, where he was held until the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office took him into custody.
Burkholder has been placed on administrative leave without pay.

You will be shocked at how little time they get and are released on Probation.
This perv probably video taped the assault and was caught by internet detectives.
Stuff like this is what keeps me so close to my kids! I’ve lost alot of jobs due to no trust! I’ve always been a firm believer in I had them I raise them but I do understand alot of people have to work and have to kinda trust other help while they do work! Its never had expressed enough to keep your children close . This is so sad this man need max and never get out! He deserves every year possible they can hold him! God will take care of this situation and I’m praying soon. I pray for all the parents And kids who have been around this man!
I think the article is fine actually needed so we know the horrible things these people do to children! And this was a dedicated person of extreme importance that was supposed to help serve and protect us and our children… instead is destroying our youth… sentence should be to the max….
People need the graphic horror of this crime this is real not fake we need to know the whole truth no matter the vitality of it. Yes it’s sad, but we need justice to come to these horrific people! What happened to these children physically wasn’t sugar coated. There graphic remembrances of this man is embedded in their brain forever! Sugar coating it does nothing to help anyone!
The details provided in this article are way too graphic and completely unnecessary. There is zero consideration to the victim involved. I highly doubt she would appreciate coming across this article later in life reading details about the horror she experienced. This article needs to be deleted or redone with less grotesque details.
