STAFF REPORT :::
A Thomaston woman is in critical condition after a stabbing late Monday afternoon.
According to Thomaston Police Department Chief Mike Richardson, officers responded to 562 2nd Ave., where a woman approximately 50-years-old was located in an apartment with multiple stab wounds.
Officials say the woman told officers her son stabbed her, and she provided his name and a description.
He was seen running from the apartment immediately prior to police arriving, Richardson said.
The suspect was apprehended a few blocks away after a short foot pursuit.
The victim was being airlifted to a Macon trauma unit.
Authorities are not releasing the names of the victim or suspect at this preliminary stage of the investigation.
Additional information will be forthcoming.
Richardson said this violent attack appears to have resulted from a domestic dispute.
