Griffin PD: Monday shooting outside WellStar Spalding Regional ER determined to be suicide

Griffin Police Department Uniform Patrol Officers responded today to a call reporting a man who had been shot near the WellStar Spalding Regional Hospital Emergency Room.

Officials say the investigation has determined the man sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

The man, whom The GRIP will not identify, died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities say there is no immediate danger to the public and the scene has been released.

The investigation is ongoing.
