SHEILA A MATHEWS :::
According to the Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Juleen Adkins, the Griffin woman missing since Friday, has been located alive.
“She was found alive and has been transported to Spalding Reg. Hospital and is thoroughly being treated,” said Capt. Tony Ranieri, of the SCSO Criminal Investigation Division. “She was responsive and was transported to the hospital.”
Private sources have told The Grip that Adkins was located in a wooded ravine behind Midway United Methodist Church, the same location where her car was located Friday afternoon. She was allegedly sitting underneath a tree, covered by a blanket she had taken with her.
Adkins family members and friends had organized a search party that began looking for the missing woman Saturday morning.
“She was found by some of the searches on the family’s side,” Ranieri said. “We hadn’t gotten back out there today; we were meeting up at the church at 12 o’clock.”
Friday’s official search went on for many hours and included the SCSO Special Operations helicopter; all ten investigators assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division; more than one dozen Dive Team members; the K9 Unit; and personnel of the Uniform Patrol Division.
