STAFF REPORT :::
An arrest has been made in an early Thursday morning shooting that killed one woman and left a man seriously wounded.
The Griffin Police Department responded at approximately 2:51 a.m. to Vineyard Village Apartments at 1547 Highway 16 West, Apartment C, in reference to a report of a person shot.
Upon arrival, GPD officers located James Riley Williams III with multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities and abdomen. He was conscious and able to communicate with officers.
A second shooting victim, 52-year-old Lisa Blanton, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Authorities say a third person in the residence, James Riley Williams IV, the son of the surviving gunshot victim, was found to be in possession of marijuana and a firearm and was taken into custody.
Further investigation resulted in the identification of Williams IV as the shooting suspect of both his father and Blanton, police say.
Williams IV is currently facing malice murder and weapon charges. The investigation is ongoing.
James Riley Williams III is in stable condition at Atlanta Medical Center.
GPD officials say preliminary information indicates this appears to be a domestic-related incident.
