Second Red Cross shelter now open in City Park Gym with free transportation available

The Red Cross has opened a second shelter for those in need of assistance following last week’s tornadoes.

The second shelter will be located inside the City Park gym.

This will be a non-medical shelter.

Please limit the number of personal items you bring to the shelter.

Weapons, alcoholic beverages and drugs are not permitted.

Law enforcement officers will be on-site.

For those in need of transportation, buses will be transporting residents from 6:30 to 11 p.m.

Bus pickup will be at Griffin Fire-Rescue Station 1 located at 314 N. Hill St. and Spalding County Fire Department Station 6 located at 1843 N. Hill St.

Buses will pick up every half-hour.

For any other transportation issues, please contact the Spalding County Call Center at 678.433.4508.

The Red Cross shelter in the Griffin First United Methodist Church Christian Enrichment Center located at 1401 Maple Drive remains open to serve displaced residents.

To request transportation to the FUMC shelter, please call 770.3020.
